Engine Checklight On A Corolla..strange Cause

ok..

so my dads 2004 corolla, got the engine light on (the lil yellow one).

he went to the dealer/garage, they said its an "engine sensor, that is telling that the fuel quality is poor" they reset the ecu/blanked the error. but it came back today.

any truth in that? or just toyota doing their thing again?

oh..we use uleaded 95 octane fuel here.

Did they get the ECU error code?

The light can come on for hunderds of reasons. You then need to find the code and compare it to a list that will tell you the error.

Need a bit of info before we can continue ..

Its is possible that the garage you get your fuel from is a bit poor. Do you regularly use the same place?

Had a similar problem with the Peugeot. Turned out it was sludge at the bottom of the stations main tank

My supra was throwing codes..... "abnormal turbo presure"

Well it is a little higher then stock ;)
