(Translating to English)

Gee!! That fine tablier seems like from an fine Fiat Uno, doesn't seem like any Toyota at all, nor even an Avensis, if I were you, i'd go to Toyota and make a small, quiet and polite rebellion  we have an Hilux for 17 years and doesn't even has a small scratch on the dash, and it's a work car, highly abused! Check it out!!

 Cumps everyone!!

First of all, are you the first and the only owner off this car? Did you buy it as the new one or second-hand?

For me, this is clearly the car that has had a heavy accident. Dashboard didn't have to break at that time, it could break much later.

It's dificult, or impossible, to belive that your dashboad broke just by itself.

I would say the car has been in accident as well as I have never seen anything like thay on any car.

The car was bought new in September of 1999 and I am the First and Only owner of the Car.

It never had a serious accident.

Recently appeared another point in the direction of the driver (the small one in the photos)

I had already 4 other Toyota's. Now I have a Toyota Corolla GTi-16 (AE92) and the Avensis MK1 (4A-FE engine). Maybe the stiff material could not handle well with high temperatures. In the past 2 years the 43ºC was reached here.

A old picture.

Have you taken this matter up with Toyota? I am sure they would be concerned if this has just happened due to temperature.

I Reported the situation to the local Toyota dealer.

Now I'm thinking of writing a letter to the Toyota official representant in Portugal to know what they think about this case.

Apart from this problem, the car is in a very good shape

At least there are no noises in Dashboard LoL

Off Topic...

Hi to all.

I am having my toyota avensis for 5 years now.

After 3.5 years the same problem occured with my car.

After i wrote and spoke a lot with Israeli dialer, and they couldn't help me. I wrote a letter with this foto to UK's dealer (the place the car were manufactured) and this is the answer:

"Thank you for your email dated 19 September 2005. I apologise for the delay in responding.

I was sorry to hear of the problems you have experienced with your Avensis but regret that Toyota (GB) PLC are unable to assist you.

Although your car was manufactured by Toyota’s factory in the UK it was made specifically for use in Israel. As such, I would suggest that you direct your comments to Toyota in Israel who will be able to help you further.

I am sorry I am unable to offer a more positive response.

Yours sincerely"

It seems to point to the fact high temperatures expand and crack the dashboard, and it needs expansion joints just like a bridge maybe.

Hi. I would like to know if somebody knows more cases like these ones.

I've heard and seen several Avensis MKI with the same problem. The dashboard just starts to create fissures with no apparent reason. It starts from an almost imperceptible fissure and expand through the time.

Here is a more recent picture of the problem.

Hi from Greece,

I have a Toyota Avensis MKI 2002 model. My car has this "dashboard" problem since 2007. I never had a serious accident. Every year it gets worst. At the moment the dashboard has 4 different scratches, the one is the same with the above picture.

Does anyone knows how to replace it? It seems be two different pieces, I guess it can be replaced.

Thanks
