hi all,

i have a 1994 cynos b 1.5 for 2 months now and know sweet F.A bout them, anyone know the engine spec for them?bhp? i heard i could bolt the turbo from a starlet straight on,and ecu and looms...is this true?

you can turbocharge the 5e but its hardly a bolt on option

Unless you want a big project the 4e-fte engine swap is the best option - although this itself isn't straightforward.

the cynos will have either the 5e-fhe or the 5e-fe engine which is 100 - 110bhp

the 4e-fte turbo is only a 1.3 compared to a 1.5, but is 133bhp as standard and will tune further.

to turbocharge the 5e-fhe you would need:

4e-fte or better injectors

4e-fte or better exhaust manifold

4e-fte or better turbo

4e-fte or better thermostat housing

4e-fte or better oil filter housing

4e-fte or better sump

4e-fte or better turbo oil and water feed lines

4e-fte or better turbo dump pipe

4e-fte or better ecu

4e-fte or better map sensor

4e-fte or better pistons (lower compression ratio)

better clutch

intercooler

the 4e-fte swap is probably easier.

As it stands the compression ratio of the 5e-fhe is too high to be turbocharged safely. You can bolt the turbocharger on, but something is going to break sooner rather than later.
