Found an R reg 97 rav 4 2ltr stax 5dr @ ron brooks for £4995.....I'm trying to get them down in price abit but its hard work.....27000 female miles a/c e/mirrors cd player and towbar which I need.....what do you guys think of the price and are there any problems with this age.....I must say it drove nice....comments please.

Sounds good to me, although there should be a little movement on the price. If it's a 97 model then it's the pre-facelift model and don't look as nice as the facelift mk1.

Don't just aim for one with low miles though, remember that can bring problems of it's own. They are very low miles for it's age, so it's spent a lot of time doing nowt and lot's of short runs I would expect. They wear the miles well, mines got just over 100k on it now and the engine sounds as smooth as ever. I also find the mechanicals fairly bulletproof too. you get surface rust underneath, but it's nowt to worry about.

Get the price down quite a bit, and it should be a good buy!

Thanks once again Stuart.....there is a drop of a hundred quid but they want my car for next to nowt.....its took three days of negotiating still no movement on price....they must be doing well or desperate for a few quid....Ive offered cash but the price remains the same. .....ironically they have at least two people who have bought new cars from them on my recommendation....I might leave it untill after christmas now but your advise is noted.

I've seen these privately for alot less,I actually just bought one for £2500 and didn't get shafted on the PX as I would have if I bought from a Dealer plus I still had my old Car to sell to make back a bit of the Cash I spent,so in all it's cost me £1500 ;) :D

Shop around,it's worth it. Mine was low miles and full TFSH too.
