Price: £9,000 - £12,000

Are Toyota taking the :ffs: ?

that's a lot of money for a car like that ..

Will never understand new car prices ..

We don't really understand it either Ben...

One main explantion for the price may be to give the Aygo it's niche market, but then they are not exactly cheap brand new.

I'm still not convinced by the Yaris/Aygo engine share. I think if I was to drive it I'd get frustrated by the lack of power very quickly. Hammond commented that he had to put it in first occasionally to get it to go anywhere :o

A one litre 3 cylinder engine in a car that is bigger and heavier is a mistake. I would stay a million miles away from that combination. Still no mention of a sport version :ffs:

Well, at least I'm still "amazed" by Toyota on a regular basis .. (that's not a good thing)

I remember when their "small sporty car" was the first Japan made mid engined car. 1600cc's of pure fury (and piano ties, suit jackets with the sleaves rolled up and Duran Duran tapes were extra).

:crybaby:

Bring back the 90's and 90's .. all is forgiven.

(eeesssa good, eeesssa good, eboneeesa eeesssa good)

Andrew Frankel, Autocar, writing up on a 1.0 Yaris Mk2

Yes, you feel the Tories might have another new leader before it reaches a decent cruising speed, but once there the amazing aerodynamics (the Cd is just 0.30) mean maintaining your speed is easy
The Yaris rides exceptionally will given the shortness of its wheelbase, get is genuinely good fun at roundabout speed. It feels agile and alive in a way the likes of the Clio, 206 and Citroen C3 simply do not. Its a sad day for the legend of the small French hatch when every one of them is outdriven by a Japanese tin box

Mighty positive - bar the pricing (which isn't so bad when you realise you can't compare spec's by their names...)

Indeed, it seems that people cant get over comparing spec levels by name. Current MK2 T3 is what top spec used to be (sans alloys). T Spirit on the other hand has smart entry, digital air, reach & rake, etc, etc, etc, stuff you could not before dream of in Yaris, let alone buy. Also, new diesel is upgraded unit from Corolla, with 90hp, so yes, it costs more.

It seems to me that writer doesnt really care about writing an proper review - "Under the now not so tiny bonnet, is the same 998cc three-cylinder engine used in the Aygo" - actually new bonnet is SMALLER than before, which he should have known if he raised it (he didnt I bet). Also, new 3cly is slightly more powerful than previous 3cly and it appeared in Vitz (Yaris) before it did in Aygo...
