Corolla Servicing

My understanding is, the corolla vvti xreg only needs servicing every 20,000 or 2yrs.....a service manager told me every 9,000 miles....who is right. Also what should the 60,000 mile service cost, any ideas. :help:

the corolla vvti needs servicing every 10000 miles or 12 months .60k service will cost about £180

£180 for a 60k service! Not at a main dealer I suspect :) - I just paid £170 for a 50k "minor" service on my 01 vvti rolla, and the cheapest I was quoted from a bunch of dealers was about £135. When I asked what the 60k service was likely to be at the place I got the 50k service done, the lady said it would be £310+, although I'm not sure how accurate that was (I suspect that that estimate might include a timing belt change, which the vvti engines dont need). We shall see next year!

no service's will ever include changing of timing belt ,watever price you are quote thats is for a service alone and nothing else.

:thumbsup: Really appreciate the feed back.....seems there is a little difference between dealers....but imo there should'nt be....there is a book i'm told that has every possible car repair etc. at a fixed time and rate......I dont think the vvti engine has a cam belt..thankfully. :thumbsup:

all dealers vary i never use the one in birmingham as they tend to be a lot more expensive and usually go out to the balck country they are a lot cheaper the ones in the city centres tend to have higher labour charges hence the price difference.

Dealers don't tend to differ that much on price IMO, except for Greater London, where unfortunately I live! I'm guessing that the only cause for the differences in price amoungst dealers is the labour rate. If you do live in a city then its down to whether you can be bothered to drive out of town to a cheaper dealer - I thought about it, but from where I live, I'd have to drive about 30+ miles each way to get any dicernable difference in price on servicing, and I decided it just wasnt worth it in the end :)

The vvti's need a health check at 10k,30k,50k etc miles which is oil and filters then a full service at 20k,40k,60k etc miles i paid on my old 1.4 vvt-i 88 quid for a health check and 165 quid for a 20k service, this was done at a main dealer.

Looking at the service history I got out of the dealer that sold me my 1.4, it looks like the 10k and 30k services are pretty cheap (ie. sub £100), and the 20k was about £130, but the 40k which they did before I bought it was £400ish, although I think that may have included two front tyres. As I said the 50k cost me £170 including some fiddling with the brakes, but they did spend about 2 hours with the car in the shop, so that's probably about right labour wise. As I said, I was told £300+ for the 60k at the local dealer, which seemed quite a lot. I want to know what it is they do at the 60k service that costs so much :)
