Problem With Audio

Hey ppl.

Most of u know that my missus bought a Baleric blue T-sport some months ago, then 1 week later a guy decided to wack us up the bum n write it off. After weeks of searching we found another Baleric Blue TS and she loves it jus as much as the other.

BUT!!!!!

the guy who has had it before has messed around a little - actually no, A LOT with the stereo. Its the standard head-unit and had some tweeters in the A post (not connected) and some 6x9's in the rear shelf (wired the wrong way round) connected via the dash Speakers.

I know there are 100's of audio posts, and ive spent lots of time looking through them, but this is a nightmare and im fed up!! I bought the green wiring loom from toyota, but i can not make any sense of it at all - how the Speakers are meant to be wired through that.. Please help me somebody!!

Anybody used to have a Baleric TS 53 plate? Doncaster area. if its u...dont mess wit stereos again hahaha!! Thanks in advance,

very depressed JK lol

If it was mine i would whip it all out and start again!

I havnt used that loom you mention but i imagine one end plugs in the back of the HU and the other end connects to the Speakers! It will need channeling under the cill and rear panels though!

CB

Hmm ..... I can't quite make out what your asking for?

Do you want it back to standard? Do you want just the 6*9's to work aswell as the remaining factory Speakers (if there still there)? Do you want the whole lot to work including the tweeters?

I take it that if the tweeters aren't wired up and the 6*9's wires are the wrong way around then your probably have no sound coming out of the back, however you should have some noise coming from the door Speakers and the dash Speakers.

A simple fix for now would be to swap the wires around on the back of the 6*9 speakers. The wire's should pull off and clip back on, so if the person has done it correctly you should atleast get some sound from the 6*9's (thats if there still in the car?).

You need to take the dash apart to tell us if the previous owner has spliced the cables (more than likely) or has brought a wiring loom and whether it's still in the car or not?

If you could give us a bit more info Im sure we will be able to help  !

Thanks Dave,

right. wen we got the car, the 6x9s were poo ones from maplin, that hardly worked. replaced them with a lovely set of infinity's and re-arranged the wiring so that they did work (was simple he had just crossed the left/right i think).

The cables have been spliiced. but he has took the front dash speaker channels (chopped the wires!!) and made them into the rear 6x9s (as far as i can tell) so the dash Speakers no longer work (grr).

Front door Speakers work fine, and have been replaced by a set of infinity's also. (Co-axial not component)

The tweaters in the a pillars have never worked, and the wires were just 'hanging loose' so to speak.

The entire system is a mess, and its jus more difficult coz the car bellongs to my missus so have limited time frames to sort it! As i mentioned I HAVE BOUGHT the green loom but i cannot figure out how this helps me at all.

The system is now crackling and popping, i thought that i had solved the problem but my misses cant listen to the stereo really coz it pops so badly. hope this little bit more info leads me to some joy!! Why do ppl mess things up so badly!! lol

Thanks again

JK

Sorry...

I would like the car to have the 6x9s in the rear, the front door Speakers, and the dash Speakers.

not too fussed about the tweaters, but if it can be connected i wont turn it down!! Chances are the tweaters will be poo tho, given his choice of 6x9s lol

Sounds like the person that had the car before you was a right dippy idiot!!

I'd just get the missus to take it down to a pro to have a look at, no Halfords though!! Come to think of it, the whole job does sound like a Halfords jobby anyways!!

Just take it down to a decent audio fitter near you and the least they can do is take a look at it and tell you exactly what has been done. It shouldnt cost anything and then at least you will know what your dealing with. Good luck fella!!

Surely its under warrenty then??

technically not because the wiring has been cut; therefore not under toyota warranty. only if Doncaster will agree to fix it, but the dealership is 70mile away (one way!)

Ah the good old warranty issue!

If you haven't had your car long they should fix it for you  !

Just give the dealership where you got the car from a call and see whether they will fix it under warranty or not.

If they will ask them if you can take it to a closer Mr T so that they can do the work for you. Any Mr T will fix your problem but they will have to phone the dealership where you got it from to agree with the work so that they can forward the costs.

worried that they will bin all the stuff ive bought tho and put it back to standard

What have you brought extra?

Just the wiring loom?

Just take out everything that you have brought and take it back to Mr T ..... it will be better if it is put back to standard rather than trying to fix somebody else's attempt - plus atleast then you know it will be a propper job  !
