Since buying my RAV4 D-4-D new in July this year when I retired and having covered 5,000 mls I am now really begining to appreciate what a splendid vehicle it is. I do quite a lot of off road work officiating at Forrest Rallies.

I have owned and driven Fords for last 25 years Mk2 RS2000, Saphire Cosworths and 6 Mondeos mostly the last a 6 speed TDCi 130.

One big bonus is that is is much quieter (road/tyre noise etc.) than my Mondeos and once it started to loosen up a little--- well I can only say I like it as well as 40-43 mpg at a steady 70-75mph.

Only complaint is innacurate speedo. See previous post.

I agree, had mine just over 18 months now and love it to bits. I've got the petrol engine and it really is the GTI of SUV's. Unfortunately, when I drive it like a GTI I get low MPG :D
