GT4 BOOSTER
 Share

Recommended Posts

fitted it today , now running a tad near 1 bar , car seems different somehow, cant put my finger on it as yet.

it now seems a big expanse of boost , but steady boosting, before it was like steady in to third then she'd go crazy with speed.

not sure i like it now.

maybe more time looking at boost gauge than speedo perhaps .

i did a flying start however from 3000 revs and nearly brought my dinner back up - oh what joy , it was great .

a nights kip after 12 hour nightshifts and £ 20 of optimax in the morning , may make up my mind.

thanks to all who helped me. you know who you are.

I think leeky ? or someone mentioned in one of the other threads that you may need to wait for the ball bearing to settle itself. May take a short while. You might notice spikes in the boost for a bit..

shes still as fast but in an all over range quickness , before it was upto a certain speed and the boost would snap ur neck.

no problems , it just feels weird. i wont mention mph in here , but its just great.

The boost should be coming in more agressively with the MBC due to the wastegate not opening until the MBC opens, where as with just the wastegate it start to open at about half of the holding pressure thus reducing the boost curve.

Get it running over 1bar and you notice the difference more, stock car although quoted as running 0.9 bar tend to vary around the 0.85 and 0.95 bar mark, plus you won't have lower boost in first anymore :D

As dak said need to give it a few hundred miles to settle properly at which point you might notice the boost has dropped a bit from what you originally set it to, give the MBC a tweek and all should be good from then on.

Oh and stomack pumping is a turbos side job :P

well what can i say - 3 attempts and she holds perfect at 1 bar exactly--- . boosting now is instantly to 1 bar within seconds. It feels stronger but cant say it has gained 40 ponies or so its just quicker. All in all though i am well pleased , i may buy some asbestos heat shield from fennies for the charge cooler and lag it in the new year.

Give the charge cooler a good clean out with some petrol as well, if you've not already done so.

You'll be supprised at the amount of crap that comes out of it

when i took it off to change the starter motor, it looked pretty clean inside from what i could see , its maybe deep inside where the oil and crud lie .i will have a go at that sketchy next time its off , when i get around to lagging it, a guy on gt4oc just did his . he said " matting was red hot , but CC was extremely cool still. £25 a sheet , it has to do something i suppose, specially in the summer heat .:thumbsup:

Lagging makes a hell of a difference when your stuck in traffic, which is when the thing tends to heat up ever felt yours has been a bit sluggish after being stuck in traffic ques <_< . Also helps keeping things cool generally but mostly noticable in traffic. I haven't lagged mine yet, working on something a bit "Different" .

Mine looked clean when I peered inside too, but it wasn't took about 5 flushs before the petrol was starting to look like petrol again instead of dirty oil
