A/c Compressor

The A/c Compressor on my wife's 1997 Rav4 has stopped working. The agent says I have to replace it but as you may think a new compressor cost loads $$$.

Any idea which toyota compressor my fit the 3s-fe engine so as to look in the 2nd had shop for one.

Could also ask Toyota Celica Breakers as the 3s-fe engine was in the early UK spec MR2's, I would imagine the compressor would work fine on the RAV.

Ask the dealer for the specs; the parts counter will usually help out. Then, run by your local parts supplier for a rebuilt compressor. I've known too many people who've picked up a compressor from the wreckers only to have it die within the year; however, YMMV!

your local toyota dealer can cross match the part # for your compressor and tell you what other models had the same one fitted
