Hi all,

I'm debating on upgrading hte disk on my Sky+ box, its out of warranty so not too bothered what happens to it.

Question - has anyone done this?

Its an amstrad box & i want to fit a spare Maxtor 120gb drive.

I know about the hidden installation menu & to do a full reset then a planner rebuild. But can i copy the existing saved programs on my current disk?

Yep, I have upgraded my Sky+ box. It was easy but you need a special shaped screw driver (star shape with a hole in the middle).

I can't remember the code for the hidden menu but you can find it on google.

Make sure the HDD is set to cable select.

I lied… it can be accessed by pressing 'Services 4 0 1 Select'

And no you can't copy data from your old HHD.

Right - i'll give this a go tomorrow - need to reformat my spare drive ready for the installation - the low level format will take all damn night

Bugger - ok cheers mate.

Might have to link my box to the PC & copy it that way.

J

That will not work either as Sky do not use Fat32 or NTFS file systems or any other Linux variants.

Formatting we need to be done within the Sky+ hidden menu.
