Before doing a download that potentially takes a while (50-odd MB), the sound quality is rubbish.

Sounds like Clarkson in a tin can.

after seeing that on top gear a few years back is what made my mind up to get a hilux and after owning one i can see why they are so tough as the chassis is like a RSJ and the bull bars are like scafolding

Pity they didn't build the prado landcruiser the same then isn't seeing as mine has been stuck at the mechanics for over 6 weeks now! Dodgy starter to say the least lacks power hugely and even drives flat out when it feels the need too!!! Toyota made a mega mistake going EFI Thanks to Clarkson I have forked out over 5 grand and I still can't drive it.

Cheers Clarkson.

My mates got a hilux and it only just made it to france before the thing started over heating. It drives perfectly on A-roads but put it on the motorway and its red hot in 5 mins!

What do you reckon it is, possibly Head Gasket???

It sounds more like it needs a new radiator rather than the HG

The reason i say this is i had a MR2t it was fine when driving normally bit as soon as you give it some stick it cooked i changed the radiator and it was fine ever after

there built like tanks ok, its taken me bloody 5 hours to remove the dash to do the heater matrix, however ive fitted a nice double din unit from a land cruiser on putting it all back together

I was buying my Hilux just as that film went out on air. All the second hand prices (esp the mk2 trucks) went up buy about £800 I'd say, on average. :crybaby:

Back down now, I am thinking of selling my truck but I might hold out until they repeat the film again ;)

The first symptoms to my saga with my landcruiser was overheating on the motorway.

There was brown sludge in the coolant before hand so I had given it a good flush,

but after around 250 miles later on the motorway engine overheated and loads of

brown sludge in coolant. This was to do with the head gasket blowing. So I decided to

recon entire engine as rear crankshaft seal needed replacing anyway.

My landcruiser has never recovered since :crybaby: it is still in the garage and is

being attempted to be fixed by some crazy mechanic, the truck just revs flat out

on its own accord and no-one seems to know why :censor:

In your case I would flush the radiator out and find out if the coolant has a greasy

residue in it as this would indicate oil from the engine getting into the coolant via the

head gasket. Also check the oil on the dipstick and see if there is any bubbling oil on

it like a foamy appearence as this would indicate water getting into the oil via the head gasket.

If the coolant is clean or at least without a greasy residue and there is no abnormality with

oil on the dipstick it probably is the radiator. First check the thermostat and see if it is opening

fully around 88 degrees c.

Chris.
