Hello Everyone,

I wish to replace my Toyota Radio, with a new head unit, can anyone please tell me how to remove the original radio from the dash, I have a Haynes manual, but it shows a sony radio, and there does not appear to be anyway to release the radio.

Hope someone can help me

Thanks, Peter

if its the blaupunk one its a pain to get out, you need to use 2 pieces U shaped coat hanger wire into the 2 holes either side of the stereo, failing that attack it with a screwdriver down the sides with a cloth to protect the dash from scratches

Thanks Moggy,

It is a Toyota Radio cassette player (original unit) I cannot see any holes in the sides of the stereo, to release it.

it would appear that i have to remove the facia surrounding the stereo? any ideas?

Peter

yes it may be that you will have to remove the facia suroundings in order to find how its fixed, most have clips either side that secure it into the metal din bracket, some require special tools to remove them alegedly, most will come out with a bit of pursuesion from a flat headed screwdriver either side of the bracket with a bit of cloth to press onto rather than the dash, once the stereos out, if its not a straight iso connector thats where the fun begins

give us a shout if you get stuck, photos would help to identify the stereo
