It`s Not Just About Mpg.

Alot of discussion regarding MPG lately.

Fair enough.....

But part of the reason I bought a Prius was due to it`s low emissions.

As a driver,if I had just wanted good MPG I would have bought a Turbo Diesel.

As a cyclist as well,I have been gassed by enough diesels as they pull away from traffic lights to know that their emissions do quite literally SUCK! :ffs:

And yes I know the arguement re-diesels being alot better than they were.

This is true, BUT they don`t switch off when stationary (unlike the Prius) and even the cleanest ones leave a black smelly cloud of toxic stuff behind them when they accelerate! :o

As for MPG, 45 to 55 for a FULL size family five door that you can easily fit 5 six footers in =RESULT! :D

And thats just driving the Prius in a normal way!

Enjoy the Prius for what it is,a real full sized family car that won`t break the bank with it`s petrol consumption,will do less harm to the planet than most and won`t gass the poor cyclist or pedestrian!

I think the problem the Prius has to overcome is the public perception that emissions and fuel economy are directly related, when in reality a car's emissions depend on both the fuel consumption, the type of fuel and how cleanly it is burnt.

It's a bit much for the non-technical person to understand :hokus-pokus:

Another point is just how easy and relaxing the Prius is to drive. :D

My Wife drives it more than her own car!
