OK, so you buy a car from a garage, do 150 miles and they forget to put oil in it, what happens.....

The big ends blow and leave the engine completely useless, anyone know of a good refurbed SW20 NA engine for sale ????

I am so p****d off atm it is unbelievable I have just been towed from Reading to Oxford.....

Happier now....

I have spoken to the garage who have accepted responsibility and will be replacing the engine, good posibility of it being the post '94 upgrade aswell so and extra 20bhp for free which is always nice.

Get the courtesy car today, the best they can do is a Fiat Punto :(

At last a garage who cann accept responsibility for there mistakes and give you some level of service.

dry as a desert....

RAC guy said the oil light was likely not to have come on as there would have been pressure in the engine from being on the motorway :(

At least the garage are being good about it and by the look of it might be getting the 3SG (post 94 engine 178bhp) engine put in instead of the 3FI (154bhp) engine when it gets replaced which wouldbe a bonus.

Just waiting for a call from the garage now.

managed a grand total of 214 miles before that 'lovely' clicking sound hit me....

Just had a call from the garage they have already found 3 3S-GE engines and are contacting the warranty company to clear it, they have said they are definately replacing it so shouldn't be too long before I am back behind the wheel.

I had 64k on my car, the engines they've found have a max of30k on them so will be getting a better engine as well.

:D;):D;):D

214 miles? wow

Hang on... do you mean to say they emptied the car of oil.. plugged it back up and you managed to get 214 miles out of it?

Thats pretty good going... do that with a ford and you'll be lucky to get out of the garage doors with it.

they claim that the oil was full when the car left the garage so they believe the oil pump mayhave blown.

Am not sure how many other reasons/excuses they come up with as long as they keep moving on getting the new engine.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter what went wrong with the engine as long as it gets replaced and it doesn't happen again.

They seempretty good so far but have given me a 306 diesel saloon which performs likea car from the early 1900's

well when you get back in your MR2 it will feel like a sports car again.

I like it when i get a banger for a few days.. becasue as soon as i get back in my car it feels quick and smooth

I'll have to remember I don't have to slam my foot to the floor in each gear to actually move which could be amusing....

In a way I'm glad not to havehadthe car last weekend, drove back from Wales yesterday and the amount of lakes (well v.large puddles) I had to drive through was crazy, the weather was awful, 3.5 hours from Cardiff to Oxford :(
