Gt4 St185 Rc Speedo

hi there hope everyone is having a good new year, right ive got a prob with me gt4 and hope fully some off you peeps might be able to point me in the right direction, my speedo only works when it wants to, sometimes im doing local driving and it works fine and other times it dosent move, , when im on motorway doing 70 and a liilte bit more...mmmmmmmmmm it does start to flicker but not the correct speed,

all other gauges work fine,

anyone got any idea what it could be before i start to strip the dash board apart???

you firstly need to determine if its a cable or pulse type sender :thumbsup:

Crap on the sensor......... No i don`t mean literally, You`ll just make a mess. :D It`s probably a dirty sensor. Whip it out and give it a clean. See if that does the trick. Check the connections including the multiplug on the back of the clocks. :thumbsup:

Just noticed you`ve got a 185CS... Pretty sure it`s a mechanically driven speedo with a cable. Unless the CS is different to a normal 185. :unsure: Mines defo got a cable. :)

thats weird, mines is a sensor type speedo conection, unless it's just cos mines is an import

right ive managed to locate the sensor gave it a clean but it still dont work, have takern the clocks out and check behind it all connections are fine>>>> do u think i might need a new sensor?

if i do where can i get one

I`m not too sure but from what i can make out - AFAIK UK cars were never offered with cruise control, Perhaps this is why they have cables. JDM and US market cars had CC as an option and the speed sensor is used as part of the CC system. Could be wrong but it kind of makes sense in an inscrutible Japanese way. :rolleyes:

I would have thought there is some way of testing it before having to Shell out for a new one. I wouldn`t think they`re cheap. I would think Toyota would be the easiest place to get one. :unsure:

phone TCB for a second hand one, you'll get it next day if you ask them nicely

you got there number there for tcb ??

having no luck getting one so far,

toyota want £146 +vat ....what a rip off..lol

ps what should be the standard psi set at on the gt4 rc import?????
