ok im gonna be buying my friends 89 corolla, its got a blown engine soo i want to put in a engine with a little bit of go. what i need to know is what engines/transmissions will work. i want to get one from a junk yard, and i want the car to remain a 5speed, soo i need to know what cars engines will work, and if the transmissions will fit in the car without modifications. or if the engine will just bolt up to the current 5 spd. any help is appreciated :)

edit: its a 4 door sedan if that matters.

Probably the best person to speak to is Dawset, with a 3SGTE(MR2/Celica Turbo) engine dumped into the car, MR2 transmission ( I think should do the job and thats 245Bhp in it's stock form....

Not to clear on the hows etc but am sure Dawsey or Sorted Avensis will be along shortly...
