The car is a 1996 auto Lucida. I have this anoying little problem. When i go to start the car, it is in park. All the lights come on as normal, but when i turn the key the car just clicks. I move the gear stick into reverse then back into park and it starts most of the time. I dont know if this is a Battery problem of if its a relay fault, or the actual gear stick. Any ideas anyone please.

Just read you post, and if you have a look at my post "Starter motor" could we have had the same problem. It has only happened once "touch wood"

Hope someone can sort this out for us.

I am getting everything, which makes me think it is the starter.

Is it a hard item to replace? and where is it, I had to buy a motor with the engine in the midle lol

Changed the connectors in the starter motor. I even changed them without taking the starter out. Bit fiddly but I didnt have to get under ther car. Starts 1st time every time now :)
