yes... I'm italian but I think it is called this way worldwide... it means Exhaust Gas Recirculation. There is an electrovalve after the exhaust manifolds that, while open, brings some exhaust gas to the intake manifolds

REALLY? didnt know that, but wouldnt that mess with the AIR(oxygen)/ FUEL thing everyone has going on? lol

just checked it out on the net, its true. but if you do that, surely you would create muchos more pollution, and it wont improve the car

I'm not sure yaris 1.0 has EGR, but I've found it on yaris 1.4 diesel

In italy I know people that made this modification on other cars, but I don't know anyone with a yaris and I don't know how the car may reacts.

I was looking for information because, you know, I don't like the idea my car breathes exhausted air...

I beleive this is a common thing on Jap Diesels to allow them to meet the hugely stringent MOT checks.

Im in the process of importing a Paejero and the pajero owners forums recommends blocking up the EGR valve for better economy etc - and the UK MOT wont fail.

Wouldnt have thought this would be the case on a petrol engine?

UK Spec doesnt have an EGR valve, its mainly for the US and some Eurpean and Japanese emission laws, quite a rare thing on Brit cars

Some cars like the Supa have them and ENVY and the likes sell a removal and blanking kit

It basical recircs some of the exhaust gas back through the engine to have another go at burning some of the unused fuel

But for performace sakes, causes a void in the exhaust flow and do you really want crappy exhaust gas coming back through

the egr valve recirculates some of the used exhaust gas when the engine is cold. to improve emissions.

nothing to do with performance

its solely for emisions side. a lot of older cars used these. as i found out at work. a nightmare to change on a 4 litre v8.
