Yeah Brake upgrading wise you would be better off upgrading to an aftermarket system such as endless pads and 3g rotors as everyone on here recomends! Straight from Envy of course! O and some stainless steel braided hose lines should help aswell to stop brake fade. You could then look into changing the rear brakes, but tbh you may aswell buy a tsport if you are paying to have the rear axle changed! (unless you can do it yourself on the cheap!)

Find a scrapped axle, take it off, get it put on, doubt it would cost more than 300 quid for all the work to be done. Exactly what i should be doing this summer.

I dont mean offence in this but is it really worth it for a 1 Litre? Surely if you uprated the front brakes that would be more than enough stopping power? considering most of the braking is done at the front surely you wont notice this mod as much as £300 spent on the front brakes? Just a thought! Suppose drums do look scabby though.

Also would changing the whole rear axle have an effect on insurance? I mean isnt that a huge change to the cars design as far as insurance are concerned? Possibly making it even classed as custom?

Insurance not a problem. And yes it is, in my opinion, worth it, as my turbo should be on by end of the summer. And somehow i'd rather know that i WILL be able to stop rather than presume I will...Oh and the front discs and pads should be upgraded within the next 3 months as well. Just to be safe... ;)

fair play to you but would when you have the fronts uprated dont you think that will be sufficient for just the normal 1litre? What i was just saying was unless this other guys plans a turbo i would just uprate the fronts with aftermarket parts such as the above mentioned set up (not Tsport discs and pads as he suggests) and leave the back alone (as someone suggested changing rear but i dont think thats a justified spending of £300+ for the fitment alone! Also i think it may affect insurance here in the Uk more so then changing the front discs and pads only (as apposed to changing a whole rear axle))

Quite possibly so but in the end of the day it all depends what the guy is wanting to acheiev from his car. If he just wants to upgrade the brakes, you can get the discs from Envy, but they're more expensive for 1.0l, about an extra 20 quid or so.

There is a difference between the front discs and pads between the SR and T-Sport - I remember Ray Wong finding this out in the past when he upgraded.

By far the most effective upgrade is the 3G Grooved Discs and Endless pads route. Doing the front is a HUGE upgrade (ask Earpl - he still complains of whiplash) Ive done the rears on my T-Sport aswell now - another BIG improvement.

For yourself Id recommend doing the fronts and maybe uprating the back to harder wearing replacements?

The other major mod is uprating the brake lines to braided ones and using better quality brake fluid with a higher boiling point.

All of the above available from envy.
