Help! Knackered My Alloys

I don't know how many of you check the General Section, so figured I might have a different response if I post here as well.

Last night, hit a pot hole at about 40, and have buckled my left front and rear wheels to the point of them being dangerous to drive on.

I have put the spare on the front to make it reasonably drivable again, but my rear is also slightly buckled, and I don't want to drive on it too much in its current condition. So, Does anyone have either a 6 spoke 17" Fondamental 5x100 38 off-set (I think!), preferrably with rubber, or a complete set of anything with rubber in the right size that I can borrow / rent for a couple of weeks while I get something sorted, or if the price is right even buy.

I'm in Derby, and can drive slowly, and not too far. Am prepared to get them today or any evening this coming week.

Also, does anyone know where I stand with the Council, and some kind of refund for their crap roads knackering my wheels?

Thanks all, hope someone can help!

Cant help with the wheels i`m afraid. But from my personal experience (Motorbike) You`ll need to take a photo of the offending hole and the damage caused to your wheel(s) then contact the local highways dept you may get somewhere. I had to resort to a solicitor in the end although it was a bit more serious than a wheel, When you take a pic of the hole you should use something to show the scale. A rule is perfect. Good luck if you pursue it.

Photograph the pothole ASAP and get confirmation from a garage of the damage.

It is the councils responsibilty to keep the roads safe so you should draft a letter initially informing them of the occurance and your intention to invoice them for the damage.

Definately get in touch with the council and take a pic of the hole. My boss has just had the same thing happen to him........his wife drove his Audi A8 through a pothole, which crisped his front wheel. 20" alloy plus rubber..................£1,100!!!!!

Needless to say he's going after the Council!!!!

Unfortunately we don`t pay road tax any more. It`s now a vehicle excise license. Just so the government can syphon it off to other departments. :ffs:
