Hi and a happy new year from the new guy.

I am the proud owner of a lucida emina 2.2td k plate, i was quite happy with myself that i managed to change the air ,oil and diesel filters as well as a engine flush out / oil change.

I put it all back together again, looked for a way to bleed the diesel line, found a little round disc on top of the diesel filter housing which seems to push up an down (not far about 1-1/2 cm or so) i continued this action for about 2 mins or so, i didn't seem to get any harder. I then tried to start it up, after what seemed to be an eternity and vitually a flat Battery (i needed to connect another Battery to it for a boost) it fired up and run like a dream, more responsive and seems smoother. I took it on a run for about 20 minutes with no problems. My wife used it that night to go shopping and said upon return to the car (away for about an hour) it took a long time to start .

Yesterday morning i got in it to start it and it took about 30 seconds of constant turning (you could hear the Battery getting slower) then it started and run fine , it usually fires up within 2/3 seconds, but i did notice a very small puddle on the road underneath where the diesel filter is located but couldn't be sure if it was new or spilt the day before during the service(alot of fluid went on the floor). If you use it again straight away it starts fine , but if you leave it over an hour or so it takes a while to start (as it did again this morning, not quite as bad as yesterday) but still too long fror the battery really...

I'm no mechanic but i'd say there was still air in the system or it's getting when the engine is off.

I'd be gratefull if someone could tell me how to bleed/prime the system. I did notice what appears to be a little plastic tap and a pipe on the plastic cap that screws into the bottom of the filter(it has 2 wires going to it) would this be a bleed valve or just a way of emptying the filter proir to change (which we did not do and got covered in about a pint of fuel)..

SORTED IT..........Der

When i replaced the filter the little black sealing ring must have slipped off, coz it wasn't there when i took it off, after searching on the floor i found it, put it back on and hey presto no leaks.
