Need To Ask Another Tyre Questions

Evening all!

Need new tyres for the Nurburgring trip and at the mo have 235/40/17's all round.

The fronts fill the arches very nicely but the rear arches are bigger and make the tyres look too small.

So was thinking about getting 235's for the front and maybe 255's for the rear.

Not only would they look better but the 255's are only £7 more expensive than the 235's.

Would this be a good or a bad idea? Will i mess up handling seeing as its 4wd?

Don't really know about GT4s, but won't wider rear tyres promote more understeer at the limit? That's what I'd expect to happen anyway.

It'll whack the rolling radius of the wheels up a bit too, not sure it'd be enough to worry about though.

4WD needs to have all the wheels turning at the same speed.. if you put tyres of a different rolling radius on the back.. you could wind up the transfer box.. not advisable... even just a few millimetres can cause problems on some cars.

Yeah - On the off roaders you get Diff Wind up even by using different treads. You have to try and make sure wear is even and do all the rotation stuff as well to keep the backs wearing at the same rate as the fronts
