what g'box does the st205 use? i know its set for 4WD obviously but does it use the same layshafts and internals as the mr2 E153 box?

yep the boxes are the same only the diffs differ. so as long as you have the tools you can get an ST205 box swap the diff for the one in the 2 and bung it back in the car.

There must be some difference between the ST205 box and the ST185 box? the 185 has a cable speedo and the 205 has an electronic sensor

ive found a 6 speed conversion but it states its for the GT4 ST205, but if its the same gubbins as the rev3 mr2 then....... :D

Not quite right .. the rev1 MR2 is cable .. the rev2 electric - both on a 185 equivalent box ..

You sure? this topic came up the other day and im sure when we were doing the gearbox on ed's 185 it didnt have the sensor like my s205 has....

Ahhhh right i think i get what ya mean.There is both a cable and a sensor version of the box

The catalogue only seems to show the 5 speed short ratio one though, and thats £1900 seen the 6 speed in a rally mag. Ill try and find the link where i first saw it.
