hello,

when i was driving to rhode island (i live in mass) my check engine light came on. i checked my oil and cooling levels and they are both good.

i brought it to the dealer and they said it needs a new pipe sensor, the one in there is rusted. it will cost me 320 dollars for the repair.

are they ripping me off, can it be done myself? my father (divorced) is a mechanic and can probably fix it correct?

please respond ASAP. here or to ahhchon@yahoo.com

thanks a lot

Most of the sensors can be easily replaced by qualified owner. If dealer told you which sensor is bad, you can try to buy it in autoparts store and install it yourself. It will save you some money. Of course, dealer may be wrong so it is all about taking some risk.
