Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has found a handier way to change the drivers headlamp bulb on a 5 door Carina E.

At present the only way I have found to do this is to remove the water container that blocks direct removal of the current bulb and this requires using an extended socket rench.

Surely there must be a simpler way and im just not seeing it!

Hi,

I'm sure that if you just lift the coolant expansion bottle up and off of its clip you can then get the bulb out and in quite easily

Sooty

The coolant bottle does come out but it's all a heck of a struggle - the other side has the Battery which is worse.

Best car ever for changing a bulb: Peugeot 306 - the French can get it right sometimes. Worst car for changing bulbs (despite its many other strengths esp. build quality which leaves the Peugeot for dead) CARINA E!!!!

PS Apparently the new VW Beetle you have to dismantle or get the dealership to change the bulbs!

Cheers to all who replied. You were quite correct. It is possible to pull the water container out without unscrewing bracket and all. I was just being too ginger with it incase I caused damage. Anyone else needing to change a similar bulb dont be afraid to give the container a good pull - it will come eventually.

Thanks all!

I don't know what you're talking about? I can change both the lamps in max 5 minutes.

And your right regarding the Beetle also with a Opel tigra. They have to take the front bumper of with the Tigra and remove the entire headlight with the Beetle. Saw it on TV once because over here you get a fine for broken headlight, unless you can repair roadside.

So they tested some cars and let mechanics do it who never worked on these cars before. In case of the Tigra i took them 2 hours to find a way to change the headlight (ie removing the bumper). After asking Opel if this was the correct way, they replied yes (Morons)
