sqeeky fan belt maybe?

Induction kit? Is it kinda a sucking noise?

Tell it to whistle a decent tune!!!!!!!!

I'll put money on it being a loose belt somewhere - more thatn likely the fan belt.

auxilary drive belt. check its condition. if it looks ok, try nipping it up a bit. if it looks knackered get a new one.

maybe a leaking vacum hose?

(this normally only does it while moving)

Ah yes, i had a vacuum leak last week. Although I didn't realise it was whinning until I removed the amp which itself was picking up engine noise and causing a whine to be sent through the Speakers, regardless of whether the stereo was on.

I presume the noise is coming from under the bonnet in your case though.
