Hi,

This my first post here, be kind!!

For some reason I've ended up replacing a heater matrix on a mates MR2, I have all the dash and vents out, but am struggling to figure out how the get the matrix out of its plastic surround. From what I can see I have to remove all the air con is this correct?

This has turned out to be one of those jobs I really regret saying yes to!!

Thanks in advance,

A very stressed Alex

You have to take the AC out and all the other stuff IIRC .. I did it last summer.

Then when you pull it out, it just slides out the other side :S Total PITA, took me about 6 hours to put it all back together and try and remember where bits went ..

Make sure you know which bits your are undoing, some of the aircon system is under very high pressure (not sure which bits !!)

and what age is the car, some aircon's cant be regassed now, they have to be replaced for a newer version, global warming and all that.

yeah, that's the one, but as Boundsw said, it's under a lot of pressure (hence the metal pipes) and will need re-gassing.

i got caught in the cross fire of an aircon system 'venting' once, went all over my hand and had numb fingers for about 2 weeks after!
