Are There Any Places That Buy Ideas?

I have flashes of inspiration now and again and think up inventions.

Granted most have already been done and i just didnt know about them

But i've reciently come up with a great idea but dont want to take it all the way though to production because i dont have the time/money.

I was thinking about building a working prototype and then patenting it - then hopefully selling the rights to the idea to a company for a few k.

Can anyone point me into the right direction?

heh heh, you need a patent fella.

plenty of companies that'll do it, but it's costly ..

generally mate - the best bet is to put as much info on paper as possible.

Build a prototype - try and do some market research (google may be enough)...

I'd reccomend apply for a patent if you can - its pricey, but it means you can show your idea without fear they will rip it off...

Also, then they dont just buy the design, they buy the patent also - and pay accordingly...

the best bet for a sale is to talk to the appropriate companies, see if they want to buy out the 'IP' or the design etc...

oh, and be prepared for hassle... its a long nasty process, but hey, if you have a good idea, could be worthwhile...

Grab me on msn if you want to talk more mate, i might even be able to point you to the right companies..

You going to be on "dragons den" showing off your new "rear end pleasure device"?

(we call them fingers, and use them for other things)

It was featured in a popular kids programme, early 90s - but was mispronounced 'Shindogu'. It's actually Chindogu... check the link above ;)

I wouldnt trust those idiots to invest in any idea I ever had... let alone let them buy a stake in the company, or god forbid, actually have a say in running it!

They are proof that you can have success on luck alone, seeing as every one of them has an absence of skill, knowledge or ability, and I wouldnt trust them to run a garage sale, let alone any buisness i was involved with!

Yeah, & if you're looking for some people/companies to invest some cold hard cash they wont even look at your idea unless you've got 1

Slap a Patent Pending on it, because the complete Patent takes a while to come through. Worth doing your own research to see if the idea has already been put into production before you even consider going further.

There are companies that engineer and build realistic prototypes for presentation to investors.

It's nortoriously expensive to get an 'invention' up and running so expect to fork out a fair bit of your own capital before people will even consider to invest in it. That's why most inventors are already pretty well-off (or have remortgaged homes to get the idea off the ground).

If this is what I think it is Lee, can you hurry up and build it? I really could do with one asap (but won't be a guinea pig for the prototype)
