Hi guys just sorted the ice on my yari.

Replaced the dash Speakers with 10cm Pioneer E-motion Speakers and replaced my Sub with a sony one.

(Left a screwdriver in the boot and it went straight through the rubber..... OOPS)

Also fitted an ipod adapter to get some variation on the go.

Will stick some pix on soon ;)

I'm sorry but I can't stand Sony Car Audio. I've just arranged two new 12" Lanzar Heritage subs for when I get back to Cyprus in March, Lubbly Jubbly!

Totally agree .. Sony in car stuff aint the quality it should be.

I'm currently Alpine and JLAudio. Got some AudioBahn components to go in when I can be fussed.

I am a Alpine Fanboy these days! Hence the whole car kitted out with Alpine! Alpine from what all the stuff I have heard is my favourite sounding, however is a tad pricey bt there are some really good deals on some websites!

Altho tbh I still love Focal Speakers! They are sooooo good bt quite pricey.

Pioneer stuff is good too, bt pricey.

No offence to you guys sony stuff looks good ;) and is okay 4 the price i guess.

Tim Mabin what are u running apart from the sub and the 10cm dash Speakers  .....is it really worth it? Would it not be better having some nice 17cm front components? Also have you got any Speakers in the back?

So you guys dont rate Pioneer subs? I was planning to fit Dash and door Pioneers and then a shallow pioneer sub under the seat. I wont hijack this post as will properly enquire nearer the time but do you not recomend pioneer subs then?

My Pioneer sub is fine, does it's job nicely. I'm only changing because the Lanzar's that i'm getting perform better and i'm getting them at cost price, so can get 2 for the price of my one Pioneer sub B)

Ah right thats cool then. I found the Dash and door Speakers by pioneer are a LOT cheaper then i imaged! Local car shop sells them for around £20 the pair for both sizes! For the orange ones and the Emotions i think. Haven't really looked into sub prices yet.

So tim you reckon the sony sub is better than the pioneer? same specs and size? Same Amp to it?

Just a quick question instead of starting a thread, has any one used one of those subs built onto an amp that are ideal for putting under seats? just wondered as seems a good idea. Also is it better to get Speakers that are say 3way for each area or instead get one or 2 ways in each area to keep the sound coming from one area for each frequency? And like do i want bass at back and tweeters at front with the range between?

Cheers, so Tim where's the pictures? And what ipod adapter did you fit? is it a specific to Ipod unit or one with Aux cable? Connects2? Cost etc. :P

Sorry... slackin a bit on the ol pix.

The pioneer coaxial emotion's sound wicked in the front. Would really recommend them.

The ipod adapter is a belkin one. It basically charges the ipod and amplifies the signal.

Ive kinda hijacked the cd changer to use as an external in (means i cant listen to cd's tho). :)

O right yeah klkl! I found out it was the orange and black and purple pioneer Speakers that were like £20 odd but the emotions are £80? for less wattage but i guess better quality? You heard any other pioneer ones to compare? But yeah looking forward to those pics. Im not 100% sure bout the sony octagonal subs but i only seen em in red so would like to see. Plus they dont seem to be raved about like pioneer and alpine.

The Sony subs that I have seen all have 5 sides making them pentagonal!

Anyway, all the I.C.E. in my car is Sony and I can't really complain, Alan can vouch for my vibrating dash!

Saying that, in my next car, I'm goin for some components up front and just a sub and amp in the boot, that setup is meant to be the ultimate for sound quality! Also, I doubt I'll go for Sony again as I like the look of some of the Alpine stuff and have heard only good things about them!

Lol shh i only saw them back in the day when i read max power :P Just looked tacky in red so dying to see them in grey/silver.

Lol vibrating dash is a good thing?! Not for sound quality surely :P but i suppose you would just use dynamat (or whatever) to sort that? Pardon my ignorance but are components things such as "3-ways" etc.? If so surely that mixes lots of frequencies from one area? Surely best sound quality is a cross over network, tweeters up front, mids by side, bass in boot? (if components are the individuals running cross-over networks then i stand corrected)

Components are when the tweeters are separate from the actual Speakers. In my car just now I have Sony components upfront and the Speakers are in the door and the tweeters for them are in the dash where the old dash Speakers used to be! :)

I could sort all the vibration with sound deadening but I can't be bothered as it's expensive and I'm selling my car anyway!

Component give better sound quality cos they've got a crossover that sends the right frequency to the speaks, but they sap more power so sometimes you need to amp them. Coaxials are good rounders.

The Emotions sound quality is much better then the cheaper ones (speak from experience) and they also go louder without distorting so much ;). Pix 2nite

O right so the Emotions are Coaxials though. I really dunno what to get for my car (thinking now as people may be getting me car presents before the actual car :P) Components up front with 6*9 coaxials in rear would give me the bass to treble in the front whilst still keeping the rear with other sounds than bass. Then maybe a sub under my seat to through it all off :P lol i dont know! :P

Anyway i look forward to seeing you set up tim and cheers everyone for all your help!!!
