Give www.confused.com a try... I had same issues as you..Spent last 8 years paying the tax man the privalage... :ffs: The wife is with MoreThan and gets a good deal for her 206cc + me as named driver.

I'm with What Car...(LiverpoolVictoria) good deal with them... Best to phone around and compare quotes...If you do loads of miles this will cost more....

I've just been quoted Happy with Norwich Union.........amazingly! And I'm paying £690, 26 5yrs protected NCB, 10,000 miles p.a., parked on drive but just inside M25 which is what keeps it quite high.

My advice to a 17yr old is not to get insured under your parents policy if you can afford to run your own car. Build your NCB as early as you can - all you are doing is putting off the inevitable and will pay for it in your early 20's. I certainly wouldn't advise driving a T-Sport at 17 (which is why insurance is so high). Get 'your eye in' on something more sensible, build up your NCB with 10month Bonus Accelerator policies (such as with Elephant or Bell Direct) and after a couple of years of accident free motoring - then upgrade to a T-Sport or equivalent..............................if you're luck enough to have the money at that age!!

There's a reason why 'high power' cars are expensive for people who've just passed tests to insure.............you can do a lot of damage with not much experience!!!! ;)

Just saw an advert on TV for Direct Line saying they will allow named drivers to acrue NCD!!

There's bound to be a catch but might be worth giving them a call mate.

17 year old trying to insure a TSport made me shudder :( that's gotta cost a small fortune!

Direct Line are good for me...

25, Full NCB, 10K PA, Business Class 1 and the missus who's 24 - £603. Not bad :D

Oh and I would stick with a cheapish car for someone who's 17; you will only crash it and you will be mightily ****** off you wrecked something mint and expensive, for which you will still have to pay the difference on the loan vs insurance payout :(

I got my renewal from elephant.co.uk during the week and was appalled to find my insurance had actually gone UP! Since last year I've turned 25, achieved 4 years NCB and have the same car since last July!!! :ffs:

I was frustrated to say the least so when I went shopping I got it down from £896 with that showers of pr*cks to £475 with Adrian Flux with all mods (plus future mods!) declared! :D What a difference....

Mate - I know exactly what you mean - I even complained to Elephant about it in writing, saying they were fools for doing away with good business. I'd been with Elephant for 3 years and they'd always been competitive. I would've stayed with them if they'd have been close to market but they were miles off.

Last year I paid £825 - this year they wanted £990 despite the fact I was a year older and one extra year's NCB, which was now protected!!!!!!!!!!! And they refused to reduce it. I also went online, did a completely new quote with all details exactly the same apart from my name and put down next door's house number and it came back with £730!!! They refused to acknowledge this.

I ended up with Norwich Union for £690 with all the bells and whistles.

Can't believe how ridiculous Elephant acted over it! Stupid thing is, if they'd have given me the £730 quote in the first place, I'd have renewed and wouldn't have gone through the hassle of checking other insurance companies!!

Yeah it really cheesed me off to be honest as they were most competitive straight out of the box last year, and then to do this!!! When I rang to cancel, there wasn't so much of a mention of trying to help me out or try to entice me to stay!!!!!!!!! Well at least I have the last laugh

Hello everyone, my first go here, been waiting for to add something worthwhile...

Anyway, had my T Sport since September last and my policy is up for renewal at the end of January, been quoted £400, fully comprehensive. That's with full and protected no claim bonus.

For the record, I'm 36 and been with my insurer for a fair few years now, company in Wales somewhere, called Brentacre, if you want their contact details give us a shout and I'll post them up.

Cheers.

Hi, I've got my CTS insured with Toyota themselves! Costs me £385 a year. I have full NCD, the car is parked in my driveway and my wife is on as a named driver, my age is 38. I sometimes find other insurers cheaper but each year Toyota always beat them as they want to keep your custom! The benefits are great too, recently a plonker ran into the back of me and then drove off without stopping! Toyota had the car fully repaired within two weeks with no paperwork or hassle. I even got a hire car whilst mine was in for repair.

I personally can recomend Toyota.

I got quoted £1,690 with Toyota Insurance last year..........only £865 out of the market!!!!

But guess it's the same with every company - one will always be better for one person than another.

Thanks for the welcome Spuffington.

Just checked out a quote from Toyota insurance - £50 more than I posted earlier, but with a lower excess AND the added benefits of courtesy car should a numpty happen to wreck mine.

I'm guessing the extra £85 I'm paying over Steve Danby is down to me being single as I've heard insurance can be cheaper if other drivers are named - insurance companies seem to have this weird idea that you'll only be in the car 50% whilst the other driver takes the remaining 50%??

Think I'll fork out the extra!
