Toyota 4runner Tailgate Window

Recommended Posts

opened my tailgate window yesterday & it came down slanted?? i opened it up took covers off to have a look why this was happening & the metal bits that are on the glass are rotten & the window arms are dropping out of 1 side causing the window to come down slanted. Can these metal pieces that are on the bottom of the window be purchased or will i have to buy a complete window?

go to a breaker and get the window with the metal bits attached its a lot cheaper than buying from toyota

I have a 1997 Toyota 4 Runner (surf) Costa Rica import with the 3.0 Turbo diesel (Landcruiser) motor. Cyliner haed has cracked and the garage say not repairable. Does anyone know a good breakers yard (parts net) to get a used part ? The trouble is these motors do not break down that often !! And I live in Spain

I am having the same problem and checked with the local dealer about needed parts. Yes, you can buy the metal "track" ( and a rubber sleeve that fits between the track and the window from a Toyota dealer. BUT.. you must take the window out out replace that part and the mechanic said to be VERY careful not to break the window ($300-600+) AND>>> if the little plastic roller that fits inside the track is broken, what I was told is that you have to buy the whole mechanism that has the 2 arms that raise and lower the window, which is quite expensive, unless you buy it used from a salvage yard. I am hoping someone finds a supplier for those little plastic rollers and lets the rest of us know about it. I hope this helps.

1997 Toyota 4Runner was properly maintained, you also have a good chance of steering clear of problems. Toyota four-wheel-drive pickup with a canopy and two extra seats. 1997 4Runner shares the same powerful I4 and V6 engines found in the Tacoma pickup.
