Hi Djoezz

You are absoluteley right about aquaplaning.

Larger tyres is more surface, so more like a "water-ski".

This is what you can read about the C1 on the Musketier site, a German Citroen tuner

For tyres

185/55-R14

195/45-R15

195/40-R16

You have to transform your wheel housing and to mount a wheel lying limiter (stuuruitslagbegrenzer), otherwise the tyres will touch the wheelhousing.

Be aware of this, cause in case of an accident the Assurence Company can refuse to pay if your car is not conform homologation.

As Holland has rather wet conditions during spring, autumn and winter, take care of this.

A agree about the look..., but I do prefer roadability.

hartelijke groeten.

Hi Chaliel,

Where is the "missing link" to Musketier?

I've read about the additional measures that have to be taken when mounting the 15" wheels and 195/45 's on the Rial website.

Click here for the Rial wheels and car configurator

If you select the Rial Flair you can see what has to be done to get everything running properly.

I expect you are not going to have any problems reading German ;)

I wonder if the wheel and tire-shop guys know anything about this.

I think I'm goin' to cancel the alloys I have ordered at the Toyota dealer and arrange things myself after delivery.

After surfing on the internet for quite some time now, I've come to the conclusion that I can find cheaper sets than the Toyota dealer can offer! :D

On the other hand, if I let them deliver the car with non-standard wheels mounted, they become partners in crime if any problems arise with the car which may be related to the lower and wider wheels/tires.

Decisions, decisions, decisions . . .

By the way as you may know ( are you Dutch?) it's also raining in summer in the Netherlands.

Cheers

http://www.musketier.com/html/citroen.html > Prospekt Anfrage.

They do not have a Prospect C1 yet, but they will send you a virtual prospect of what they sell for the C1/107, and at the bottom you will find wheels and tyres, with the info as mentioned.

The TTE (Toyota Team Europe) http://www.tte.de/cm_aygo.htm parts sold by the Aygo dealers are homologated for the Aygo ( Not for the PSA cars) So warranty will not be affected. Decisions, decisions, decisions . . .

By the way as you may know ( are you Dutch? Yes, but living in France.) it's also raining in summer in the Netherlands.

And even here in the South of France it's not always sunny and hot, we had 30cm of snow last week...

if i got an aygo sport i would put my 18 inch boss xl500's on. the car isn't the quickest anyway, but it would sure look nice, however you would feel every little bump lol

Tyre 175/50 R 15 (Hankook K406)

I wouldn't be so keen to have five different wheels on my Aygo :P

What color has yours? The wheels have to match the color of the car, so don't focus  to much on the shiny wheels only!

Does anyone know prices of TTE wheels?

Hi Sebi Wan,

Thanks for the links. I have been looking on the Dutch Toyota site, but strangely enough there are no alloys available other than buying the Aygo Sport. On the German TTE site I have seen the 15" wheels and they look very smart with the 175/50-15 tires. I think this is the best compromise between the looks and the performance/handling. The only drawback is that this tire dimension is rather unique, I have found only one brand selling this size the : "Kumho KH15". Does this mean that this exotic tire size is beyond any normal proportion or what? And, do they behave ab-normal as well? What tire brand is delivered by TTE?

Anyone with experience out there?

Cheers

There is also Hankook K406 (not so bad brand) , I think it will be my choice (not a lot of choice, anyway), next spring...

Theres a red 107 going around Mansfield with 17" 5 Spoke wheels, look like Kahn rep's on it.

Doesn't look too bad.

Matt - Likes big wheels.

Very nice 107 @Pug Bug

After discovered the price of some alloy wheels, I think I'll order the TTE wheels from my Toyota dealer and hope obtain a cheaper price...

Hi Chaliel,

You must be happy now; snow has gone and some perfect meandering roads over there to give her a try ( the car I mean ;) )

The car looks great, but when are you going to order your alloys, she looks a bit dull, in spite of the 165/60's

Ejoy!

Thanks Djoezz,

I'm very pleased with the car!

Did 2500km in a good week, and it's doing much better than my C3 ever did!

Like the gearbox that goes like butter. It's not specialy made to Rallye, as 4 and 5 are very "long", but thats good for the economy. The engine likes to make revs and without any hesitation. It has more torque than a 1.4L C2 I tried last week!

The 165/60-R14 Michelin tyres are doing there job as i expected, much better than the original 155 ones.

I'm not going to lower the car as I'm doing some mudroads very often, and I have to watch already not to tuch the bottom.

I did not find alloys that convinced me, so I'll stay on the original ones for the moment. Perhaps it does not looks nice, but I have the car to drive in and not for the look of it. If alloys have more weight than the original iron ones I do not see the point of having them. So I'll wait.

Other things I do like of this car. The heating is very good, and driving with open window too. The C3 could not be driven with open window, as it made a lot of noice and wind inside the car. Yes I've got the Airco, but I like to drive with the window open.

Only point minus... the seats are a bit short, and it's a pity that the wheel can't be pulled toward me. On all other points it scores better than the C2 and C3, so I did make the right choice!

Hi Chaliel,

I'm glad to see you so happy with the car. It is always good to find out that you made the good choice at the end of the day.

But don't forget you're not driving a Citroen anymore. It is a Citroen by virtue of Toyota design, so no comparison to C2 and C3's anymore. :D

I agree with you on the pure handling effects of the alloys. The gain in road holding performance should come from the lower unsprung weight of the wheels. As this is not always the case in the price bracket we are looking at, there is no gain neither. But what are we talking about, a fancy little car, which makes driving fun, it's not a racing car after all. B)

So with that in mind, just have fun, each of us in his or her own way, be it looks or performance, who cares? :P

Have a nice weekend everybody!
