Condensation Inside Avensis

Has anyone else experienced extensive condensation inside the passenger cabin/ boot of the latest model Avensis. :(

A number of times the inside of my front and back windscreens have condensed very badly, and more recently, have frozen in the cold weather. Also, the fabric inside the boot my 4-door avensis has surface mold (white furry deposits), presumably due to the damp.

I dont know if its the same but I was suffering bad condensation all the time and a general inefficiency of the heating system after 40,000 miles.

I had the aircon pollen filter replaced this week and it's cured it. The filter costs about £20.00 and is easy to replace yourself if you want. It sits behind the glovebox - refer to your manual.

Unfortunately, I am suffering really bad condensation at the moment cos some Manc tw*t smashed my back window last night and Autoglass cant replace it for 2 days :ffs:

I'll have a look at the filter, but the car's only done 7k miles and just over a year old, so I would hope filter wouldn't be a problem yet.

The condensation on the front and back windscreen is a pain, but I am a bit more concerned about the mould in the boot (white stringy stuff a bit like cotton wool). No sign of any leaks! :help:

Hi,

If you use the Aircon system and leave it on all the time it will dry the air in the car and get rid of any condensation caused by people getting in with wet shoes, coats etc. The best advice for the carpets would be to remove them and take them indoors to clean and dry out. Put an old piece of cardboard and carpet as a temporary measure but remove the parcel shelf to allow complete drying out of the car.

As to fuel consumption it is only 2-3 miles to the gallon less and increases safety through visibilty as windscreen condensation does not occur at all, and you can still have the heater on hot with the aircon on.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Nick.....

Whilst I was cleaning out all the bits of glass from the boot, I noticed a flappy grille on the offside of the spare wheel well.

It might be worth having a look at this, i assume this is where all the air in the car exits.
