Probably lost the gas - though I wouldn't have thought the compressor would engage properally if that was the case?? Is it?, can you hear a click and does the engine rev up when air con is turned on?

No it just sounds like every other car when i turn the air on.

So sounds like it out of gas?

When you say just like every other car, I take it you mean cars without air con?

In that case I would say it is the gas, if memory serves, when the Air con fuse goes, the light doesn't work which tells you the circuit is dead. In your case the light does work, so the fuse must be fine. If the gas has escaped, you have to wonder why. It is most likely that the front radiator (the air con one sits in front of the engine radiator) has been hit (as you probably know very vunerable) by a stone or other hand foreign object and has ruptured causing the gas to leak. If you take it to an air con specialist, they will be able to pressure test and system and tell you if you've sprung a leak and hoipefully if so where.

you wont be able to do this at Halfords!

Yup the normal air heaters come on i press the air/con button it lights up but the air flow stays the same.

Its a G reg so its quite old dont know if that would have anything to do with it

i know this is a stupid thing to ask and i'm not insulting your inteligence but when you switch the air con on you have set the heater control to cold?

add a can of freon an it should be fine, to leak a small amount over a period of 6-10 years is not a tragedy, if it looses a can per year, you may consider searching for the leak
