Differences Between Sr & T-sport And Other Stuff

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about buying a Yaris T-Sport and noticed the SR model is very similar to it. What are the differences a part from the engine size, or aren't there any!

There seem to be a few high mileage T-Sports in my area (2001 - 90k+miles). Any advice on what to look out for on high mileage TS.

Also, whats a multi functional steering wheel!? Sounds good at least.

Thanks,

Chris.

Its essentially the same engine in the SR and T-Sport - just an extra 200cc.

The T-Sport comes as standard with side skirts, front fogs, T-Sport specific bumpers and sunroof/aircon as standard (not sure if the SR has aircon?)

The big difference I guess is the interior - the T-Sport comes with 'sports' seats in black/grey a matching steering wheel and gear nob. The seats arent buckets or anything but they are nicer than the SR ones. The interior dash is analogue with silver/white dials and the switch covers are 'carbon' on the doors. (SR dials are digital)

The dash is a darker more sublte style too.

The SR is lowered I think on TTE springs and has front discs only, the T-Sport also is lower than standard and has four wheel discs. The SR comes with 15" multispokes and the T-Sport with 15" six spokes.

My t-sport is now at 107k on the clock - Ive modded mines quite heavily in the last year but none of the existing standard parts have given me any grief.

I got the car with 7k on it and it was standard until 70k so I think its fair to say that I know the car - they're tough and very very reliable. Usual rules apply if you look after them they perform well.

As to which one to get- well every SR owner I know is trying to change to the T-Sport interior in one way or another.

I look at other cars of similar style now like the C2 and smile - Ive had mine since 2002 and it still looks fresh and a bit different.

Steering wheel - tilts ... thats all!

SR has aircon as standard , no front foglights, no side skirts, and no sunroof. I only want some silver heater dials for mine from the TS. Apart from that it's a great little car. Ofcourse I would prefer the TS but I couldn't afford it at the time, but I guess I get a better MPG figure than the TS and cheaper insurance.

Advantages of TS:

200cc more power

better interior (more bling and sportiness) (Seats are vastly superior)

nice subtle bodykit

front fogs

rear disc brakes

sunroof

analogue sports dials

Side airbags (for the airbag lovers)

Advantages of SR:

Interior still nice

goes well for what it is

better wheels than TS (better style and wider)

better exhaust (on pre-2002 models)

bit cheaper

They're both excellent cars but for what now is only maybe a couple of hundred quids difference, the T-Sport is going to be the better car for it's interior, exterior and performance.

Hey, when you say the SR is lowered, is it lowered by much?

Ta for all the info. Thought I'd let you know that I've bought a Yaris T Sport! Hefty miles on the clock mind you (2001 - 92k), but it seems to have been looked after. Hopefully I wont be dissapointed. Pick it up tomorrow! Can't wait....

Plus the remote control for the CD/Radio.

Very useful piece of kit... I’m able to change the volume, CD tracks, radio channels and frequencies plus turn it on and off without removing my hands from the steering wheel or taking my eyes off the road.

Should be standard on all cars.

true, all the more reason for it to have a light in the boot and a drivers seat with memory, and an electric sunroof while at it, haha

Aha "cheaper insurance" I have been driving around in a 1.0 yaris for about 4 years now (originally bought as a daily driver - until I realised how fun it could be to drive and it soon became a second project) and I now know the ins and outs of the car very well. After falling for the nippy little yaris and it's surprisingly good handling and acceleration and seeing how cheap the t sports were I decided to look into insurance for one and it has turned out to somehow be much much cheaper than insuring my 1.0 Yaris so I would look into this with different insurance providers (yes, this was also without the arch nemesis of car guys... The feared black box)

you wont be disappointed with the t-sport.  Really fun car, quite easy to work on and really quite practical too.  There are some ropey ones out there - saw one that looked superb in pics but in reality - i thought it was another car!  Budget a few hundred on service and replacement parts - i recently bought an 02 t sport, did a full service, front and rear brake pads, rear shock top mounts, various bits and bobs in the engine bay, just need to sort an exhaust drone now.

Its extra oomph against a 1.3 (had a cdx for 20 years, and it was faultless) is really welcomed and gives that extra bit of confidence in driving.  Post some pics of your car up

Yes corrado vr6 they are great little cars ,one of the things I am most impressed with is the torque and flexibility of the engine , I don't know the ft/lb figure offhand , but the ability to pull from 1500 rpm in fourth and fifth without labouring (old skool driving) and at the same time being able to rev without blowing the valves or straining is pretty good for 1500cc I reckon.

According to my calculations I could in theory carefully accelerate from 30 mph in fifth to a max of 120 mph which is some spread of torque.
