just a few questions. are the problems confined to the vvti 1.6 and 1.8 models

also how much would it cost to get the short block changed for a 1.8 vvti 02 avensis?

The problem affects the zz engines from 2000-2002. These engines are the 1.4 1.6 1.8 vvt-i units. Has for cost i'd say not much change out of a couple of grand for new short blocks. Alot depends on how good the dealer is i was told when my corolla burnt oil like it was going out of fashion that if it was not under warrenty it would of cost me in the region of £2500.

which oil would you use 10-40w or 10-50w. would the 50w be burned less as it is designed to run at high temperature or im i talking rubbish?

No need to change every 5k................we are replacing 1 litre every 1000 miles anyway!!!!!

Perhaps this oil burning issue was a clever ploy by Toyota. Means we won't need to change our oil ever again??
