Gen 7 Alarm Problem

Hiya,

I'm a proud owner of a 2001 Celica 190 which I've owned for almost 2 years now without the slightest hint of trouble..... untill now.

The alarm system is a factory fitted TVSS IV-D which has been fine untill last Sunday when I pressed the button on the key fob and nothing happened!! (I have new batteries in the fob and the spare key has the same result).

The Alarm was still armed and the central locking still locked.

I can enter the car by manually unlocking the doors but of course the alarm trigggers every 28 seconds, I can even start the engine.

The following day after contacting Mr.T I thought I would try to turn the alarm off again and guess what ?!? it was working normally again, great I thought just one of those things....

Untill today when the nightmare has started again, preparing to go into town, walk towards my car, press the button and Nothing happens again!

I'm prepared to take my car into Mr.T to find the fault but just wondered if anyone else had a similar experience and maybe even a solution to my problem.

Cheers Julian.

OMG i had this exact problem. Still dont know exactly what caused it but it always happens at my mother house. I move it 5 metres away from her house/bmw/mercedes and all is ok. Only ever happens there!

I had a problem with mind and Mr T asked if I keep keys or some thing metal in the central consel .

Took the keys out and have not had a problem ( touch wood)

Alarms are affected by other Radio transmissions... You haven't had a new Mobile phone mast or anything like it put up near you have you? I know that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't kind of counter-acts that, but may be worth investigating...

This kind of thing drives me mad, at the moment it's working fine again...

It's the feeling it gives me that i'm no more 100% confident that it's going to work every time.

Thanks for the replies though

I have the same problem, I fitted new batteries and still the same thing happens.

I found out that my friend across the road has just had a wireless router fitted, and that's what is causing the problem, it uses a similar frequency as my fob.

The best way to sort it is go round their house, stamp on the wireless router, and tell them to use cables like everyone else :P
