*@#!* Anti Roll Bar

The story so far... I did the anti roll bar bushes as soon as I found this forum and whilst it improved things the wear in the bar meant the knocking was still there.

So... I picked up a new/2nd hand anti roll bar without any wear and today is the day to fit it.

All the bolts have undone fine and the old bar is loose. I have dropped the suspension to give a little more room...

... Now comes the problem. Some designer t**** has tucked the bar above the fuel tank connections and straps :censor: Does anyone know if it can be got out without undoing them because I know they are going to shear :help:

I could do with knowing if it has been done and which side you pulled it out from?

TIA

Wayhay, nothing sheared!

For anyone interested with the strut undone at the top, the bar will come out on the drivers side. What you do need to do is undo the fuel filler and breather connections and the passenger strap. It is then possible to manouver the bar half way.

Do the strap back up and undo the driver strap and the bar can be got out. Refitting is a reversal of this.

Anyhow, off to do everything back up before it goes dark as you just know if I leave it to tomorrow it will be raining :)

Cheers

good job but you simply buy a bicycle inner tube , wrap a strip around the wear area on the roll bar then add new bushes and bolt it back up.no more taps and knocks for a long long time .

:crybaby: If only my life was that simple

Tried that, the second time I had it apart, but the wear is so uneven. Don't forget I have a UK car, some bits look like they have been stored in salt water.

If this doesn't stop it then it only leaves the connecting rods.

 Best bit is I have got to go and test drive it now (to make sure it is safe and fixed you understand ;) )

See you later
