Hi,

Last week while I was visiting the motorshow in Brussels I discovered that the 177 bhp version of the RAV will only be available in the X version  which is with 36640 € the most expensive one. :crybaby:

But I don't need the X, I just want power!!!! in another version with less extra gadgets!!!!!

Does anybody know if in the future a cheaper version with the more powerfull engine will be available?

Yes TTE sells Performance Kits for diesel engines. Their service is very good. I visited their workshop a few times last year with my RAV. And yes the performance kit performs well.

But the power my RAV has without the kit is only 105 bhp instead of 116 bhp :censor: so with the kit I have 123 bhp. The "kit" cannot boost to 140 bhp as promised by TTE since there is not enough power to begin with. :crybaby:

So this is why I visited Brussels motorshow to look at the new RAV with 177 bhp which is only available in the X very expensive version.

105 bhp measured on a test bench.

The 177bhp diesel (175bhp for the UK Spec) should eventually filter down to all models of RAV4, but it could take up to a year for it to happen.

This is promising!!

it depends on the market. In some markets, there are 177hp versions with less equipment.

As to the "test bench" is that 105hp to the wheels? If that is true, thats actually a lot. 135hp engine should be very fast too, 2 sec faster 0-100 than old Rav4, and thats a lot.

the benchtest was made on a new 4x4 bench by a tuner autotuneheinz. 105 bhp instead of 116 bhp announced by toyota. I think I will have to accept this because the dealer found nothing wrong with the engine. He has performed a few tests and everything seems oke.

but is it 105bhp adjusted to the crank or 105hp at the wheels?

If it is only 105hp at the crank, it is actually very, very fast 105hp :-)

the measurement was made on a testbench at the wheels.
