D4d Xt-r - 5 Door

Just thought I'd say a quick hi to the Rav 4 ladies & gents! :D

Took my Celica T-Sport in for its 20k service this morning, the guys at the dealership couldn't find me a courtesy car, so they gave me one of the Manager's cars - a brand new Rav 4 D4D XT-R. I have to say, I'm very impressed indeed!

My Missus loves 4x4's and desperately wanted a Rav 4 instead of the Celica when I bought it, but I wanted speed and impracticality!!! However, if I was in the market for a 'family' car, then this would definately be on the list.

I'm not amazed at the torquey-ness of the engine, but more at the smoothness and it's fairly rev-happy nature - something I've not really seen from a diesel before. Also, the ride is very smooth and fairly taut for such a highsided vehicle. Seems pretty well specced aswell. Only real grip is the amount of noise which comes into the cabin. Haven't got anywhere to go today, but I think I'll be taking it out for a bit of a drive later today to get a real feel for it!!! ;)

Just a quick question though - is it really only 117bhp for the D4D? Feels a lot more powerful than that......

All I can say is well done to Toyota for 'converting' me to 4x4's and congrats all you owners for having a cracking car!

Glad you like the XTR . What do you think of the cruise control ?Driving from London to my home ,300 miles ,I only had my foot on the accelerator for 10% of the journey .Makes the journey much less tiring

Yeah - love cruise control on any car........shame the Celica design is that little too old for them to have put it on it. :(

Just tripped down the M11 today, dialled in the cruise control and job done!
