Have You Found The Same?

Hiya :)

I fell foul today of forgetting to put on my seatbelt!!!

The warning siren is obviously a good thing in most ways, but....

... there's a good chance of it causing the accident that the seatbelt is to protect you from, where you wouldn't other wise have had the accident!!! :P

Also........

I've got the 3-door version, and although they make the whole Shell much sturdier, the front corner posts (ends of the windscreen), and the side posts behind the doors; are very wide and they don't half block quite a lot of the all-round view!!!

Mind you, it gives me plenty of exercise, bobbing around in my seat to make sure that I've not missed seeing anything; especially when turning left!!!

Is it just me???

Cheers,

Raggy :)

Pillars are :censor: fat, so becareful  (tell them to put the headrests down too, when they get out of the back  ), have the five door though, so guess that's a bit worse, except when i am in it the seat is alongside the backdoor , other thing driver's sunvisor is slack when I put it back in its hook after using it against side window  well thats the fault on the car after 3000miles lol

have a good day

Seat belt warning can be annoying if you are just moving the car on the drive or something.

The niggles I have found are -

1. Hazard warning lights / rear demist button don't light up

2. Only 1 boot strut

3. Interior light not switched on passenger door

4. No temp gauge

5. Rattly A Pillar plastic

6. Horrible cheap gear knob (easily change circa £17 or so)

7. No boot light

Oh and unlocking and removing the fuel cap is a skill in itself !

Aye......

I agree with your list.

I made sure that I'd sussed the petrol cap before needing to go for petrol, to save embarrassment on the forecourt! :)

All in all though, I'm well chuffed with the little fella... still feel I couldn't have chosen better in this class

Cheers,

Raggy :)

Yeah I love the little car myself. I think the styling is great and the running costs are sooooo low compared with my Lexus.

Power is ample (though not great of course) and it's so nippy and easy to park etc.

I've done nearly 5000 miles in mine now - so far only problem has been drivers carpet mat retaining clip has broken . . can't grumble at that.

I'm planning on a mid point oil and filter change which will be soon - so I'll post up how that goes.

my boot doesnt shut all the time, have to have about 3 attempts before it stays shut, thats my only real problem, oh and lack of glove box but beggers can't be choosers.

you ain't missing much ;), not saying who, just say I gave someone a lift and found them trying to lift the back bumper after pushing the button to get the shopping out  luckily I had just washed it else they would have been filthy :ffs:

Know what you mean with the back door. :(

It's a question of finding a medium between banging it shut too hard, since it IS the window!... and yet firmly enough to make it lock.

I've found that firm, but not TOO hard, seems to be the answer.

...and anyway, if I bang it shut too hard once I've set the alarm I've fitted, it set the flamin' thing off! :ffs:

(Yes... I know I should shut the back door before setting the alarm... but even shutting the side door too hard sets it off too! :ffs: )

I suppose all this is a good reminder to shut doors firmly without slamming them :D

Raggy :)

My glass boot lid has started to refuse to close on the first attempt now. Bit of a pain. Think i shall clean it up and grease it. All the muck that gets splattered in that area may be affecting it.

Talking of muck i have replaced my rear wiper with a 16" unit. It comes from a Peugeot 306 1999-on. Part number 6426HJ fits perfectly and gives a longer sweep in the middle of the rear view where it is needed. It does lift slightly towards the end of the stroke though but by this time it has cleared enough.

Peugeot also do a nice alloy pedal kit that fits well Part Number 942580. I will take some interior pics someday soon so you can see these parts in place.

The fuelcap is opened by putting the key in, and twisting it (the key) anti-clockwise, read about it in TopGear that they also noted that issue, which has me concluding that they must be doing some key- and lidtwisting.

Agreed with the hefty A-pillars, they get even thicker with some ice on the edges of the window, which yesterday blocked my view of a VW Caddy heading at me halfway into my lane as I did a sharp left-turn (in UK, think right-turn). This is a problem all new cars have though.

Love the seats, which are identical left and right to save costs, but the lack of a outside-, and engine temp-gauge is a downer.

Rear wiper is as near a joke I could think, it's sloooow, and only wipes properly going backwards, going forwards it just wipes the edges.

Crunch in gearbox going from 2nd. to 3rd. is a slight worry too.
