Hello all there, as the topic says, is there such place as a professional translator? I.e. you take a book in one language and they'll completely recreate the same book in english or whatever language you wish? I ask this because as you know I got a Cynos, and therefore its an import...and therefore the whole service booklet and car manual are in japanese! and i love looking through them...

so yeah, let me know if such a place exists! thanks

c'mon, anyone?

Yes there are. I took the Sera workshop manual to a professional translator bureau specialising in automotive Japanese, and the rough quote for translation was £ 10,000

seriously !?!? holy :censor: !!! err...is there a cheaper alternative?! mind you the cynos manual + service book are a lot smaller, but that'd still mean a few £1000

If its anything like the Sera drivers handbook, it doesn't actually tell you anything worth diddly-squat, because the Japanese take their cars to the garage for anything. Even a blown bulb isn't covered in the manual.

About the only things useful that you can't figure out within 5 minutes is fuses, and then you just look for the blown one and replace it.

i paid £20 for a celica book on eBay - it dont really tell you a great deal, certainly not worth the money i paid.

well there was a cynos one on eBay, in ENGLISH, but i got outbid...and i cant babelfish it cause i cant type japanese! well i just want it to make sure on things like tyre pressures, oil amounts etc..

learn japanese, lazy a s s

If its like the Sera it doesn't tell you oil amounts!

Tyre pressures should be on a sticker somewhere. On a Sera its on the drivers door shut panel, measured in bar, one for fronts, one for rears and a higher one for the weedy spacesaver.

i found those in the manual, but i doubt the cynos came standard with avon zv-1's, and they're of a different profile ratio...but the paseo one had oil amounts :S

omg, legendary mate!!! thanks!!!

hehe, thanks again mate! seriously, of all the obvious places, Amazon didnt even cross my mind!

Is it any good for a Uk 'Seo? I take it its fairly similar?

Posted

You may still be able to order a UK Paseo manual from a Toyota dealer.

For the Cynos import you can order from www.jpnz.co.nz who are the people who publish it. They do translated manuals for Starlet EP82 and EP91 Glanza too, but not the Sera.

Oh!! looking for this one too!!

Can any1 send me this book??

I could transfer money via westernunion or moneygramm?

OCR / Scan it with the correct language support, then laught at how bablefish etc translate technical words!

i bought mine from Amazon...but beware, its expensive and its cheapy photocopies

Posted

surely its illegal to sell photocopies of books/manuals.

To remedy this awful situation you should scan it and PDF it for our enjoyment.

JPNZ translated the Cynos handbook in English and have sold them via eBay. They're not photocopies as such, but originals possibly made on a photocopier by JPNZ, if you get my meaning...

Therefore it would be illegal to scan and pdf them as copyright rests with JPNZ.

I see, so hes bought a translated one, thus not the original print.

Still would be nice to scan and share it ;)
