One of the local lads got killed in a Starlet over our way sunday night. Don`t know the reasons why, but it left the road and flipped into a tree. :(

Which makes me wonder about the ability of small light car to be controllable with large amounts of power under the right foot. (Not that i`m saying this was the cause of the above) At least with something slightly lardy you`ve got the advantage of weight to help them stay planted. If you want an example, look at the swift GTI. Goes like stink but jittery as hell on the rough roads we have over here.

It's not nice to hear about anyone meeting their maker, but I agree that smaller cars are good fun but I would rather have something that can at least inspire confidence at speed. To be honest if you hit something at high speed its not going to matter what you drive but given the choice, I know what I'd rather be in.

275-290 on a fwd is going to be just plain scary!

Roundabouts and most corners will have to be taken very carefully. The difference in grip between a fwd and 4wd on the twisties is amazing, and if you end up going one on one with a GT4 you will get blown away on the corners, or worse you will end up in a ditch.

I currently have both a 182 and 205, and seriously, the 182 slides around corners that the 205 doesn't even blink at, so that much power will have to be used in moderation.

I know what its going to be like as my GTE is running 256bhp and handles like bambi on ice!

Its only going to be running near 290 bhp when it has a shot of the good stuff so it should'nt be too bad most of the time. We'll see
