Engine Change In Avensis

Hi to all. I'm a newbie here, the site is really great. :thumbsup:

I'm seriously thinking of changing the engine in my Avensis. So far I'm looking into 2ZZ-GE, 3S-FE or 3S-GE.

Any comments on the engines (consumption, reliability, performance)? Does anybody know if they are "bolt-on" or need work in the engine bay?

Personally i'd say it's not worth the hassle, unless you are going for a proper modification. You need new ECU etc too. 3S-FE 2.0 engine wouldn't be worth it at all for the small torque and power increase. The GE version is obviously more powerful. But for the cost of the whole installation, why not just buy another??

2ZZ would be seriously difficult. ECU would be completely different for starters. ZZ family of engine is totaly different as well. Engine mountings will be different. auxilliry stuff is differently laid out and if I remeber correctly A type is exhaust manifold forward in the engine bay where as ZZ is exhaust backwards. Sounds like some fairly serious surgery would be required
