Yup we have seen that car for sale. Its all lies!!! The only limited edition mkiiis are the Turbo A and Twin turbo R.

2.0TT supras are not limited edition, although some versions are very rare anyway, (see my toc garage, black car) they came from the factory with that engine (1G-GTE, basicly an IS200 engine with two small turbos. These engines are 210 bhp as stock, regardless of the bull**** people try to claim when selling them.

AS its a '91 it will be the common and heavier wide body.

I have lost the link to the ad, so you have it? I seem to recall it being full of lies.

I think the Twin Turbo R has a Recaro interior like this

Don't know anything about the Turbo A, apart from that its really rare.

EDIT to make pic a link... was a tad on the large side ;)

Correct.

The Twin turbo R is easily spotted in that it has the recaro interior, it is also badged on the back as "twin turbo R", momo steering wheel with no cruise control, no digidash, no tems, etc. AS far as I know its avaliable only in hard top form. It features the 1JZ-GTE engine and is badged accordingly (2.5 twin turbo Badge on the front grille) With a bit of luck there should be one on toc later this year ;)

The Turbo A is a late 80s variant of the regular 3.0 turbo, built purely for homologation purposes for the jap group A racing. It is badged turbo A down the doors, They only came in black with black sawblade wheels. under the bonnet it looks fairly normal, but the eager eyes will spot a smoothed out "3000 pipe" and no air flow meter.... they had various other bits and bobs too ;) They also have a numberplate sized three holed scoop at the front... which is the only ever styling que ona mkiii soop that the max muppet brigade nicked!

The bog standard twin turbos (2.0 and 2.5 are not limited but still fairly rare in the uk as they were never sold here... Mine is only rare because it is facelift narrow body mkiii (only made for one year) is a manual (rare for imports) and has the aerotop roof. We are only aware of about 5 (although more are slowly creaping in) other narrow body aeros in the uk.. and most of those are autos or N/a!

I doubt very much that someone would debadge a limited edition car...... however I have seen many "fake" "R"'s

Slight hijack, but have you got any idea how much it'd cost to import at 2.5TT and get it on the road here? Do the Rs command much of a price premium in Japan over the standard models?

It will cost more to get a decent 2.5TT mkiii then a mk4 these days... over £5k for a nice one! AS for price not sure... most people prefer the "limited" with all the toys ofa uk car plus more... also a l0ot of people want the aerotop supras, as they look stunning and seriosly turn heads!!!!

ahem and what about the 2.5 'limited' young man? There are as few of the limiteds available as the 'R' .. In fact, i'm probably seeing more 'R's than limiteds around these days (few and far between on either though)...

It probably comes down to the fact that personal imports are favouring the 'R' , hence making it common as muck :D

"limited " wasn't a special edition though, :P
