I'm struggling here guys, brakesinternational and tcbparts both don't list them on their website. I'll ring uniparts in the morning, you can't check on their website. Anyone recommend anyone else to check??

You could always get your old shoes relined. Not so many firms around nowadays, so it might take a bit of detective work.

I wouldn't worry about the brakes shoes mate, unless they are really, really bad. It looks like your noise was caused by that pad that was almost worn out, and off square - that could make it squeal as well.

Can you post up a picture of the shoes? They are only used by the hand brake, so they should never wear out (unless you do lots of handbrake turns  ). If it's just the edges that are a bit crumbled, it's not worth worrying about.

Look ok. There`s not a lot of meat on them even when new. The only reason i replaced mine was because one of the linings detached itself from the shoe and tore into the other one. . In fact i may still have the good pair lurking aroiund somewhere. If i have your more than welcome to them. I`ll have a hunt later. Garage needs a clear out anyway.

cheers for that but think i'm going to leave them ok, spot of adjusting the handbrake and all appears to be ok, new pads are working and i'm pretty sure it was a sticking piston causing my pads to wear prematurely. Will keep an eye on it as i do a fair few miles with work and i can't be replacing rear pads every 8000! Thanks for everyone's help, it was appreciated!

  • 4 weeks later...

How worn were the other three pads. Could be a sticking piston...

Ok, thought this was sorted but i now do definitely have a sticking piston! The same wheel where the pads were shot now stinks of burnt pad material when i get out of it. Just that wheel that was the problem. It appears the caliper is keeping the pads connected to the disc when it is moving.

What are the causes and easy things to try to remedy on a sticking piston without obviously buying a new one?
