I'm doing over 45000km/year ~ 30000 miles/year.

I'm coming from a Citroën C3 1,4L HDi 92HP, thats the same engine, but with 16Valves.

Having tested both, I took the petrol version, that's much more fun to drive and consumes only half a liter more every 100km..., so it will take ages to consume the extra 1200 euro the diesel version costs.

The petrol version even steers better I think, as it has some kg less in the front...or?

I like the little 3 cilinder. It changes gears more easily than the C3, especialy back to two and one. It does what you expected it should do when you push the accelerator..., there where the C3 hesitated... sometimes for over a second.

Well the 1.4L HDi 16V 92HP does not exist any more..., you will find the 1.6L 90 and 110HP in the new C3 now.

Peugeot might not sell the diesel version of the 107 in the UK, here in France it's listed in both versions like the C1 and the Aygo.

Interesting to see you were disappointed with it, although perhaps for some people the extra economy will make it even more ideal as a commuters car especially those with long distances to travel.

You got a point there... But in Denmark, where cars are very expensive, the extra cost doesnt make up for the better economy... The difference between the 1,0 petrol and 1,4 diesel is aprox. 2.400 euros...

Toyota Aygo 1,0 Plus (petrol) cost 134.000 dkr (17.866 euros) and a 1,4 Plus (diesel) costs 152.000 dkr (20.266 euros) and for the extra 2.400 euros you can get a lot af petrol... ;)

I drive aprox. 30.000 km/year and the petrol-version is more fun to drive - i think... :)

****... those prices are more than twice as much as in France..., how much do you earn in Danmark?

The C1 begins here at 8250euro..., for a 3door basic petrol version with any options.

Mate, the most expensive cars in europe are in Denmark. Here in Bulgaria ,the AYGO 3dr. starts at 9414 euro.

Cars in Denmak are very expensive... :(

What you earn depends on which job you have... ;) But with the high taxes, i am surprised, to even get money in the bank every month... :D

Excuse me for digging up an old thread, but I was at a Toyota dealer at the weekend and the salesman suggested a version of the Aygo with the Toyota 1.4 D-4D unit was on the way.

Obviously no more than a rumour, but I could just see them branding it as an even more sporty model than the Sport version. The D-4D turbo unit has a lot more grunt (in its Yaris and Corolla incarnations) than the HDi effort in there at the moment, even if it is a little sooty.

To add to the HDi discussion, found this on youtube:

86Hp 180Nm C1 HDi (chipped) doing 0-62mph ~10sec. easily bottoming out the speedo and pulling through to 190km/h (118mph)

90-170km/h (~56-106mph)

This thing is pretty quick, my 1.0 vvt-i Aygo could hardly make it past 95mph.

Also, there is this video featuring a race over 606km between a stock C1 HDi and a TechArt Cayenne, notice @2:55 that he has almost 170km/h on the stock C1.

I have driven the Aygo 1,4 D-4D (1,4 HDI from PSA) and must say that i was disapointed... A couple of years ago i had a Peugeot 206 1,4 HDI with the same engine (68 bhp standard - not the 54 bhp-version as in the Aygo), and that 68 bhp engine is much more "fun" and alive. The 54 bhp-version is not so keen on reving and is way to slow... More like a VW Fox 1,2... And thats not a compliment to the Aygo diesel... ;)

The 54 bhp is feeling like an old Ferguson-tractor when cold - but after 10 min. it´s begining to warm up and it runs okay... The torque is okay - but dosen´t feel much better than the petrol-engine... The better economy is a great thing, but the extra price (in Denmark) and the fact that the car gets very slow and sounds very "rough" pulls down in my book... I bougt the petrol-version... Now - thats a fun car to drive... :)

P.S. My old 206 1,4 HDI was chipped to 95 bhp... In a 825 kg Aygo it could be a little "rocket"... ;)

I've had my Aygo diesel on a dyno because the 0-60mph was well under the 16secs that paperwork said. It makes 68hp at the crankshaft, with 54bhp at the wheels. 160Nm of torque.

I read that there were some problems with the ECU restricting the engine to 54bhp. I suspect the ECU was kept standard.

Here's the link to the Dyno
