Yaris Ts Mpg

I was just wondering what sort of MPG people are getting out of their Yaris T-Sports.....at the minute mines reading 36.3mpg which I think is quite low and yes ive been driving normally......I know a lot of it depends on how you drive but I just want to know whether mines using too much also if an induction kit + mods reduces or increases mpg....

Cheers

hi..

I think this ones been done before, not sure tho

36.3 pretty good i would have thought (for normal petrol), i managed 42mpg once but that was mainly steady driving at 50 to 60 mph with not much stopping and starting.

on average...

Sunday driver mode

36 to 38 normal petrol

39 to 40+ Optimax

Normal driving (normal for me anyway :))

28 to 30 normal petrol

33 to 36 Optimax

worst i have ever got out of a full tank is 260miles.

One thing i noticed with optimax, it seems to burn better than normal petrol when the car is thrashed a bit. If i drive sensibly it doesnt last much longer than the normal stuff. Off course this means when i use Optimax i HAVE to thrash the hell out of the car :D :D

Surinder..

According to my computer I'm getting 41.0 mpg which is pretty good.

In my Rav4 I was getting 28 mpg

I'm getting 42.7 and that was last reset around 6 months ago.

No motorway driving though, pretty steady run with little stop start traffic,

but does not include driving like a saint! buy any means!

Best way to get better MPG is to watch your breaking, look well ahead, and there should be no need to break.

Steady and fast acceleration is better than "flooring it" but also better than taking it really steady though the gears...as it's takes much longer to get into top.

what I can't figure out is that my Average speed is awalys 32?? Don't figure...reset it a few times....but after a month or so, it's back to 32???! 33 would at least be something...even 31.....just sick of 32!

Cheers for the replys, it seems like my car is running quite normal......

That one about the average speed is so true...mines been on 31 mph for the last 2 months!! Dont know how its calculated but it doesnt seem to make much sense

Nash, well at least 31 different to 32!!! not sure how it works it out...is the "clock" still ticking when your stood still?? I think it will be, ie lights....traffic james etc...or is it only calculatiing the aveage speed...when there is a speed other than Zero?!

Nexk question is how low you have got your mpg! mines been down to 6.2 mpg. That was like in first at 6500 rpm. Grin....actually that's still better mpg than alot of cars!!!

I think my average speed was 33 last time I checked, maybe I drive to fast :P MPG is sitting at 37'ish thats using optimax doing 76 miles a day and pushing the car quite often!

As far as getting low mpg, watch it in slow moving traffic, it can end up scarily low!

youve got me worried now  , the highest i have ever got is 41mpg and that was just the once. Normally i get just over 300 miles to a full tank. Not compliaining though, i used to only get average of 26mpg from last car, p reg fiat punto 1.2.

Getting 45 mpg average running my YTS on optimax. However, I re-calculate after each fuelling. Even with hard driving (redline gear changes) I've not had an average of less than 38. This is with a good mix of urban, country and motorway driving.

that's more like it.. Not my 27Mpg..

If you like seeing 30Mpg+ don't get it modded.. I don't care to much about the petrol but i know some will.

Oli you're dead right. Many mods will alter the fuel ecomomy even down to the width and profile of the tyres (the larger the footprint the greater the resistance and, therefore, the more energy/fuel required).

The best ecomomy I've had was 49.6 after my girlfriend had done most of the driving!

Can your girlfriend come and talk to my wife!! no offense to anyone out there..!! but she's got a 1.0 Yaris, and I'm constantly shouting...shift up!!!! were doing 70 in fourth, and have been for the past 20 miles...CHANGE GEAR!!!

Now I think you guys out there have cursed me...my constant 42.7 for the past few month has suddenly dropped to 42.5...and seems to be going down!!! and I I'm driving the same route and more than likely the same style...weird....the hot weather perhaps? although I thought she'd warm up faster...but maybe not getting as good a burn? or maybe it's the air-con being on all the time...more than likely!but who gives a two hoots!!!

I use optimax or Super Unleaded - mainly Optimax.

I did a lot of town driving - to an from work (now riding a push bike) and it dropped to 36.2 and i am lucky if i get 270 out of a tank.

Dont know what i am doing wrong. I am sure the ecotek was supposed to improve economy or is this over a period of time. I must admit cutting out the work run the tank is beginining to squeeze more out

Well,

Some how, don't aks me why, but I'm returning average of 99 mpg after 23,000 miles, with an average speed of 35 mph.

It seems that as I live in Yorkshire it takes into account the lack of fuel being used when going down hills. (when backing off the throttle the mpg goes to 99.9)

I wish I was getting 99mpg, I'd be getting more than 280 miles per tank.

Does optimax really make a lot of difference to the mpg.

Aye a fellow Yorkshire man!

You say an Average of 99 MPG??? well we al know that's not right!!

As you say if you have it set to display the current MPG reading...sure if you lift off the throtle...your using sod all fuel compared to the speed your doing. Floor it and it will drop to about 5mph.... but the average is obviosly...well the average of all these readings over time.

Oh....and you can't freeweel down hills all the time, at somepoint your going to have to drive back up them!! ;)

Optimax does make a difference to MPG but really only a maximum improvement of 5mpg (depending on driving style),but it does take a few tank fulls before the gains are seen. More beneficial though with optimax is the cleaner/more efficient burning, the engine runs so much smoother, and throttle response his better, as are bhp/torque. Again the amounts are small....hence the decisions on wheter it's better to pay a few more quid per tank....or get the cheap stuff.... but give her optimax...and she'll love you for it.

I don't think it's right but he does drive like a granny...

  • 1 month later...

I usually get around 35mpg, which is a mixture of driving round town and a few longer runs. If I'm gentle then it'll get into the early 40s on longer runs.

Best I've had on a tank was 47mpg, which was mostly cruising at around 60mph on busy motorways.
