Different Size Tyres On Front To Rear? Is This Wrong?

Hiya, I just noticed the tyre sizes on my 1991 Celica GT4, It has 17 inch alloys and has the following:

Front Tyres: 205x40x17

Rear Tyres: 215x45x17

With the bigger profile on the rear tyres this will result in a bigger circumference to the front.

As this is a 4 wheel drive car, the front and rear wheels should be moving at exactly the same speed to avoid stressing/loading the drive train, is that correct?

Should I get my tyres changed so they are all identical profiles?

Cheers,

Lawrence

I posted up about his before, after a while you may experience diff lock.

This is where the drivetrain at the back turns faster than the drivetrain at the front which causes the teeth on the diff/gears to push against eachother.

Eventually bang! there goes your diff or your gearbox.

Get em changed soonest. Your rears are trying to go 4.95% faster than the fronts,. You will damage your transmision in short order. :(
